Polar Explorer Eric Larsen
Day 34. Almost 86
clear, increasing winds -20 degrees F
17 April 2014
We tried to make 86 degrees north latitude today but the conveyor belt of ice pushing us backwards didn't allow it. In fact, since I got in the tent we've lost .024 of a degree of northward progress - in roughly an hour.

Frustrating. Especially since we had relatively good ice conditions.

Double frustrating.

We did manage to have a good laugh, however. I had just crossed a small lead cracking the edge and dunking my boot in the process. Ryan, now not able to cross had to jump to a large piece in the middle. It was far enough away to be nerve wracking.

He cleared the gap no problem but the humorous part was his superman, both arms forward technique. We laughed uncontrollably for long enough to forget we were tired and there was still a long 'road' ahead.

I also wanted to givve a big shout out to thhe Yonder crew. If you're looking for a sweet app to share your adventure stoke... And pictures, then Yonder is for you!

Distance traveled: 12.5 nautical miles
